This weeks top 5 Wednesday is about my favourite publishers. This is quite a strange thing for a top 5 Wednesday i think, as we usually think about the books that we’ve read and what did or didn’t like about them. This week i’ll be thinking about the publishing houses and what great books i think they produce. If you browse through your shelves often, you’ll notice that many of your favourite books are all from the same publishers. They generally have a set ‘type’ of novel they are looking for, and someone who often reads the same genre will be used to buying from the same publisher knowingly. As a bit of a creative writing nerd (i studied it at university), publishing houses intrigue me. Here are my favourite publishing houses.

Top 5 Most Misleading Synopses
I think we have all had that moment where we receive a book and the synopsis doesn’t sound great. Then one day, you decide to read it and it is amazing! On the other hand, I have also picked up books which sound brilliant and don’t live up to their synopsis. I am someone who often skim reads the back of books and this can lead to many shocks and surprises whilst reading! Here’s my top 5 for this week.
Top 5 Spooky Settings
Halloween is officially upon us! Less than a week to go until the creepy event, so this weeks Top 5 Wednesday is our top 5 spooky settings in novels. This can be anything from a place a little strange to weird or eerie. We absolutely adore creepy settings in novels and something that will truly put us on edge. Here are our top 5 spooky settings that we love.
Top 5 Non-Canon Ships
It’s Top 5 Wednesday day again! I don’t know where the weeks go because i’m always shocked when it’s time to put up my Wednesday post again! Well this weeks topic is top t non-canon ships. For those of you that don’t spend all your time on the internet, this means the couples that you ‘ship’ that are not actually together in the book. So it could be the main character and their best friend, instead of the main character and their boyfriend/girlfriend. You could even let your heart run wild and ship people from two different worlds or series. I usually stick to what’s written with the pairings that i like in novels, so i’ve had to rack my brains for this one!
Top 5 Inaccurate Book Covers
One of the worst things that a book lover can come across is the extremely inaccurate book covers. By this, I mean the book covers that just don’t match up to the story inside them. This usually works two ways. One being that the cover is god awful, you don’t want to pick it up but find out that the story inside is incredible. And the second being that the cover of the book is so intriguing and beautiful that you have to pick the book up, and it’s absolutely shocking inside. Here are my top 5 very inaccurate book covers.
Top 5 Gateway Books
This weeks Top 5 Wednesday is my top 5 gateway books. A ‘gateway book’ is a book that introduces you to a genre. These are books that are easy to read and compass a certain genre easily so that the person entering that genre can get a good idea of what it is about. I really love reading gateway books because they always introduce you to new things, similarly i like hearing what others favourite gateway books are, it generally gives you a good idea of what the person likes and they’re interested in. Instead of doing my gateway books in to a specific genre, i’m going to be telling you all my top 5 books that are gateways in to graphic novels!
Top 5 Books You Want to See as TV Shows
For Top 5 Wednesday this week, I had to think of books I would like to see as TV shows. So many books are adapted, mostly into films. However, TV adaptations are growing in scale and can be much more satisfying. They give much more time to fit in detailed character development and various storylines that would be erased in a film. I enjoyed writing this one so much! Continue reading “Top 5 Books You Want to See as TV Shows”
