I’ve hit quite the reading slump in the last month or so. With a mix of a new job, blog-tober and everything else, i think i had a severe lack in effort to read. I found that a lot of things weren’t making me happy to read too, which have led to some DNF’s that i never expected.

I wanted to start this as a series ages ago and have had the ideas drafted for months but I never got round to it or was feeling it. Now however, I’ve had a resurgence of passion for it. I often associate books or songs with Hogwarts houses – it’s a fairly common thing to do. There’s sometimes just a vibe in a book’s style or theme, a character with specific house traits or just the feeling you get when reading it that makes me sometimes instantly associate a book with a house. Today is Mental Health Awareness Day which you have probably seen a bit about online – I think it’s really picked up profile in the past couple of years which is amazing! I picked this up before NYALitFest as Will Hill was going to be there and I thought this book sounded really interesting and quite different. I’m morbidly fascinated by cults (I think most people who I’ve spoken to are) and this is all about a young girl who was in a cult dealing with life straight after a huge disaster. This was one of the first books I picked up at YALC and I do not regret it. It’s also the first Katherine Webber book I have read and I now can’t wait to pick up Wing Jones. The story of this is so beautiful and I really do rate it highly. Continue reading “Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Katherine Webber (Blogmas)”
A few months ago i started a little series entitled ‘Bookish Happiness’. This is where i talked about all the things in the past few weeks/month that made me particularly happy that were book related. I really loved doing the first one and showcasing all the positivity that is happening around the book community at the moment. Here is the next installment of all the bookish things that have made me very happy recently.

For a long time i was unable to read with noise around me. I liked to read completely on my own and in silence. Ever since i found a love of reading in cafes and public places, obviously i had to get used to noise and music being on constantly. I ended up finding it pretty relaxing whilst reading.
