You may have noticed that we had a read-along running across our social medias between the 11th and the 22nd of March. This was all in aid of celebrating the wonderful release of Proud, a new LGBTQ+ anthology from Stripes, which was curated by Juno Dawson and includes a whole host of great YA authors and some wonderful illustrators.
We have officially had our book club running for a year! Our online version started earlier than this but this last one was our twelfth session! This is super exciting and we are so happy we are growing and people are enjoying it as much as we are. We had such a fab little evening with regular book club goers and some newcomers too! The book was George by Alex Gino, a middle grade book about a transgender girl wanting to be seen as a girl by others too. Continue reading
Hello! We are on day 9 of our Christmas read-along of I’ll Be Home for Christmas and I’m genuinely loving it so far. In my last post I wrote about how I was struggling to finish a book and reading a short story everyday has really helped me get back into reading! I’m going to update you on what my favourites are so far and what I love about them. Continue reading
For the past 12 days we have been doing a read-along of the BAME anthology, A Change is Gonna Come. It’s a wonderful book filled with short stories and poems by diverse authors, some well known, others slightly less known – all of which are amazing to now know of! As by now we have read the whole book, we are going to do a joint review of the book! Continue reading
It’s day 9 of our read-along which means we only have four left including today’s! In case you’ve somehow missed it on our blog and twitter (where have you been?) we are doing a read-along blog tour of the BAME anthology, A Change is Gonna Come. Im absolutely loving the book so far – I’ve found something in each and every story or poem that I love, and that’s such a wonderful feeling. Continue reading
We’re on to the last few days of our Christmas read-along now, and to be honest, i’ll be sad when it finishes. We’re on the 11th story out of 12 today, which is Star of Bethlehem by Ally Carter. So far we’ve read some of the festive stories by David Levithan, Gayle Forman and many more acclaimed authors. It’s definitely got me a little more in to the Christmas stories, and without a doubt has made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
How are you all doing with the read-along? A few weeks ago we announced our Christmas read-along which started on the 14th of December. This year we’re reading My True Love Gave To Me edited by Stephanie Perkins, which is a festive short story collection of all your favourite YA authors. We’re reading a story a day for the next 12 days, so there’s plenty of time to join in or catch up!
