Trigonometry BBC Two Review

Review HeaderThe two of us at The Little Contemporary Corner have recently watched a BBC Two series called Trigonometry and we absolutely adore it. It’s a fantastic show focusing on three people who develop a deep connection and fall in love with each other, depicting a positive and diverse representation of polyamory. We don’t normally write about TV shows but we both love it so much we had to write about it! Continue reading “Trigonometry BBC Two Review”

Favourite Reads of LGBTQ+ Book Club

LGBTQ+ HeaderOur LGBTQ+ Book Club has been on hold a little at the moment due to COVID-19 and everything going on at the moment. I miss it very much, particularly chatting with everyone and having in-depth discussions about various queer books! I thought I’d share some of my personal favourites we have read so far. LGBTQ+ Book Club – January 2020

LGBTQ+ Book Club HeaderHello! Last week we had our first Book Club meet up of the year and it was our biggest yet which is so amazing! It was lovely to see faces old and new joining us to chat all things queer, specifically Girl Mans Up by M-E Girard. It’s a contemporary YA book that follows Pen, a queer protagonist who is struggling mainly with how others see her. She describes herself as ‘queer’ and a quote on the back of the book describes her as a genderqueer character but I’m hesitant to label specifically as Pen never labels herself. Read on for some opinions on this month’s book and to find out our February read. Continue reading “LGBTQ+ Book Club – January 2020”

LGBTQ+ Book Club – November 2019

LGBTQ+ Book Club HeaderThis was our last book club of the year and it was truly a great way to finish our LGBTQ+ reads of 2019! In November we read All the Bad Apples by Moïra Fowley-Doyle and we had lots of fantastic feedback about it. The book is a contemporary YA magical realism with historical chapters too…I won’t say too much about that but it’s a great mix of genres! It was a great read and the first I, and many others at book club, have read of her books (excluding short pieces in anthologies).

LGBTQ+ Book Club – October 2019

LGBTQ+ Book Club HeaderFirst off, apologies for this being over a week later than normal! To be honest, it’s probably only been me bothered by this but even so! In October we read Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand which is the first horror we’ve read at book club. It’s a YA horror with multiple LGBTQ+ representations and it felt quite different in many ways to anything we have read before, and anything I’ve read personally to be honest.  Continue reading “LGBTQ+ Book Club – October 2019”

Raindance Film Festival: Queer Love Stories – Blogtober

Film Header

Slightly different post here but I sat in on an industry talk at Raindance Film Festival called Queer Love Stories on Screen and it was really interesting and adaptations came up a few times so this isn’t just a purely film based post for those who aren’t interested in my passionate love for films! LGBTQ+ Book Club – Birthday

LGBTQ+ Book Club HeaderOur most recent Book Club meeting was last Thursday and we chatted about Birthday by Meredith Russo. It was quite an exciting one as we were sent some wonderful things by Usborne YA to decorate our space and give out to those who joined us. This post will be a little update about what we spoke about, our thoughts and responses from our new Google form! Continue reading “LGBTQ+ Book Club – Birthday”
