I bought this book when it came out, ready for an event for it that we attended about a year ago in Doncaster. We went to another, much bigger one recently at HOME in Manchester which Sarah is going to upload a post on soon. I only just read the book before the HOME event after wanting to get round to it for about a year (we all know how we are with our TBR piles…) and I was really looking forward to it because it seemed really relevant to how I had been feeling the past year or so. Read on for my full review! Continue reading “Notes on a Nervous Planet by Matt Haig (BEDM)”
Sophie has already done a review of this book and a little summary of the author event she attended (you can find that HERE), however i loved it so much i cannot help but write up my own thoughts on Doing It.
I’ve gotten in to the habit now of talking about what i’m reading at the moment, my choices, why i made them and what i like/don’t like. It’s always a little more informal than a wrap-up or something similar. So here are the things that i’m currently reading…
It’s come to the end of the second month for our second book of Book Club! For the last two months we’ve been reading Girl Hearts Girl by Lucy Sutcliffe. Our next book starts on the 1st of July, (we’ll reveal that at the end of the post) so make sure you get your hands on it to join in our read-along for that one! Also don’t forget to use the hashtag #TLCCBookClub on Twitter to let us know you’re reading along!
It’s time for the first of our reviews for book two in our LGBTQ+ Book Club! If you haven’t been involved up to now, it’s super easy and there’s a long time frame. Girl Hearts Girl by Lucy Sutcliffe is our read for the months of May and June so if you want to read along with us and share your views, please do! You could comment, tweet us or even write your own blog post where you could tag us so we can see what you thought.
It’s been quite a while since i’ve done a book haul. My lent goal this year was to not buy books while it lasted, and i actually achieved it! However, i may have put some in the store cupboard at work for when it was over, and i also treated myself to a few Amazon purchases in the first hour after it ended. Along with that and being on holiday and some new releases, i’ve managed to acquire quite a few new books in the last month or so. I would by lying if i said i’d remember everything i got, so here’s a snippet of what’s joined my shelves recently.
Read this book. If it’s the only book you read this week, this year, this life time, i urge you to make this book the one. It takes quite a lot for a book to impact me as much as this one has, but it has so many incredible life lessons, teamed with a fantastic, tragic story that it’s hard not to learn something. This book is so important, i have no idea why more people are not aware of it.
