Over the past year I’ve gotten really into podcasts, something I never thought I’d be a fan of but I’ve found quite a few that I love. I’ve uploaded a few posts about these and will continue to upload many more as I’m always finding new ones to enjoy and that I want to shout about. A few months ago, I came across a brilliant podcast named Best Girl Grip focused on women working in the British film industry which is something I’m just starting out in! Why Films Can Be As Good As (Or Better) Than Books
I feel like there is often quite a bit of snobbery surrounding adaptations. There’s a constant thought of the book always being better than the film, often said before the film has even been released. I’ve felt like this for a long, long time and many aspects of the idea annoy me a bit! I decided to write this post after watching Charlotte’s (WonderfullyBookish) video on unpopular opinions and this came up as one. Continue reading “Why Films Can Be As Good As (Or Better) Than Books”
Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda Book and Film Chat
I’ve heard about this book by Becky Albertelli for a long, long time and I always meant to pick it up. I finally did buy it in February (mainly because the film was approaching and I needed to get a read on before I saw it!). My girlfriend managed to get us free tickets to an early screening of the adaptation, Love, Simon, at the Vue cinema in Manchester so I was able to see it on the 19th February! I sped read the book the weekend before and had only a few pages left before I sat down ready for the movie. I just want to have a little chat about the book and the film and what I thought about them! Continue reading “Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda Book and Film Chat”
Everything, Everything – Adaptation Chat
Yesterday, Sarah and I saw the Everything, Everything film together with our friend Becca. We’ve been looking forward to seeing this film ever since it was announced so it was so fun to go together! The film was just released in the UK on Friday and I wanted to do a post for those who have either already seen it or want to (also, for myself because I love love love writing about adaptations!)
Movie Adaptations in 2016
2016 is set to bring us a whole heap of exciting movies that have been based on books. I’m not usually the kind of person who gets excited about movie releases, however there are some incredible books this year that I cannot wait to be brought to life on screen! Here’s a list of some of the most exciting ones that are due to be released in 2016 so you can get a head start and read the novels!
John Green Books vs Movies
It seems like every John Green novel is going to eventually be turned in to a movie. First The Fault In Our Stars and now Paper Towns has been released the John Green hype is officially back in full force for many booklovers. I can only imagine how the much the internet will blow up when we get more information about Looking For Alaska. I am a massive John Green fan and have been since I first picked up The Fault in Our Stars back in 2012, but are these movies actually half as good as the books are?
