LGBTQ+ Book Club Update (BEDM)

LGBTQ+ Book Club Header

It’s about time for a bit of housekeeping on the blog! It’s been a little bit of time since i’ve written a general post about book club and the updates that we have made. I have a couple of book club related announcements to share!

Matt Haig – Notes On A Nervous Planet at HOME MCR (BEDM)

Event Header

Trigger warning: Anxiety, depression, suicide, eating disorders & in depth mental health talks later on.

A few days go, i had the pleasure of seeing Matt Haig talk again, this time at HOME in Manchester. Myself and Sophie travelled to Doncaster last year for his tour of Notes On A Nervous Planet, and hearing Matt talk about his own issues with anxiety and depression was so inspiring and relatable, i wanted to see him again.

A Very Unbookish Day (BEDM)

Chat Header

Sometimes, you just really need a day with your best friends. Without a doubt, most of my days with friends are filled with bookish activities, but sometimes, it’s really nice to go out with your bookish friends and do something unbookish! That’s why yesterday me, Sophie and the wonderful Lois from LoisReadsBooks took a little day out.

Notes on a Nervous Planet by Matt Haig (BEDM)

Book Review HeaderI bought this book when it came out, ready for an event for it that we attended about a year ago in Doncaster. We went to another, much bigger one recently at HOME in Manchester which Sarah is going to upload a post on soon. I only just read the book before the HOME event after wanting to get round to it for about a year (we all know how we are with our TBR piles…) and I was really looking forward to it because it seemed really relevant to how I had been feeling the past year or so. Read on for my full review! Continue reading “Notes on a Nervous Planet by Matt Haig (BEDM)”

LGBTQ+ Book Club – Girls of Paper and Fire

LGBTQ+ Book Club HeaderHello all! In case you didn’t hear, this month’s book club read was Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan. It’s an amazing book and I just posted my review on it over the weekend which you can read here. We were excited to jump into this as we haven’t read much (if any) fantasy for our book club just yet. There will be some spoilers so be warned!  Continue reading “LGBTQ+ Book Club – Girls of Paper and Fire”

Angie Thomas Event – Manchester

Event HeaderA few weeks ago, me and Sarah went to an event at Manchester Central Library to see Angie Thomas talk about her latest release, On The Come Up and answer some questions about it. I finished the book just after the event and absolutely adored it. If I could give it more than 5 stars out of 5, I truly would. The event was fantastic and I was so excited to see Angie speak.

An Interview with Simon James Green and L. C. Rosen

Interview Header

A little while ago i was lucky enough to interview Simon James Green, author of Noah Can’t Even and Noah Could Never, and also L. C. Rosen (Lev), author of Jack Of Hearts (and Other Parts). It was one of the most wonderful interviews i’ve had the pleasure of holding. It was really interesting to talk to two fellow LGBTQ+ community members and their opinions of YA and where they think LGBTQ+ is going in YA. I absolutely loved doing this interview and i hope you enjoy reading it!
