Happy book haul! I’ve been on a little bit of a buying ban for a while – i say a while, i really mean it’s been about six weeks – and i’m back with another haul, a haul that definitely shouldn’t have been a haul. I was determined to not buy books, read from my back list and be really good at the moment. That hasn’t happened and i’m back in a tricky place with my TBR and the fact that it’s huge.

I’ve made some bad decisions in my life, some minor, and some incredibly huge. Me deciding to go on a two day ‘book bender’ to London, alone and unsupervised, was somewhere in between minor and incredibly huge.

This weekend, I went to London with my girlfriend to see the musical, Waitress, which I’ve wanted to see for a good few months. The soundtrack is one of my favourites and I couldn’t wait to see the story and songs performed. I also visited the Natural History Museum for the first time which was fab and stayed at a wonderful Airbnb! As soon as we got invited, we jumped on the chance to go. The following day, we also had our semi-regular meeting with the Manchester Bloggers group. It was an incredibly bookish weekend.

I said some time ago that i was aiming to be on a book buying ban for a while. YALC is a very big book buying experience, so i wanted to avoid buying books for a few months while i had chance to catch up on some reading. That clearly did not happen. I’d had this tripped to London planned for months, Hamilton was the main reason that i went, but my partner had never been in a Foyles or explored the book shops of London. So naturally we went to do just that.

YALC is over, my weekend wrap-up is done and it’s time for the book haul (aka, the part that i know we’re most excited for). I had the goal this year of not getting that many books, and specifically only picking up books that i was excited for or had been on my list for quite some time. I can happily say that i stuck to one of those promises.
