This month we read The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. It’s one of mine and Sarah’s favourite books and I feel like a lot of our friendship has ties to it. We have both read it more than once before we chose it for Book Club but had never read it to focus on the aspects of sexuality specifically.
It’s about time for a bit of housekeeping on the blog! It’s been a little bit of time since i’ve written a general post about book club and the updates that we have made. I have a couple of book club related announcements to share!
Hello all! In case you didn’t hear, this month’s book club read was Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan. It’s an amazing book and I just posted my review on it over the weekend which you can read here. We were excited to jump into this as we haven’t read much (if any) fantasy for our book club just yet. There will be some spoilers so be warned! Continue reading “LGBTQ+ Book Club – Girls of Paper and Fire”
You may have noticed that we had a read-along running across our social medias between the 11th and the 22nd of March. This was all in aid of celebrating the wonderful release of Proud, a new LGBTQ+ anthology from Stripes, which was curated by Juno Dawson and includes a whole host of great YA authors and some wonderful illustrators.
Thursday was the 11th meet up of our LGBTQ+ Book Club! We have now changed the date to the last Thursday of each month rather than the first just so you know! This months read was The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, which is a sci-fi fiction book. It follows Rosemary Harper, a human who joins the crew of the Wayfarer ship which tunnels through space. I won’t go into the specifics but I recommend that you check out the book (if you haven’t already) and give the synopsis a read! So it’s been a hot minute since we wrote a little Book Club update! Last year we luckily had the chance to start our own book club in Manchester city centre, with people that actually want to come and talk to us about books! It’s been absolutely lovely!
