Recently I’ve been reading quite different books to what I usually pick up. The last few years I’ve mostly read contemporary YA fiction novels but so far this year I’ve been diving into adult and non-fiction books as well as stories set a few decades ago as opposed to recent years. I’m enjoying it very much and I’m loving reading a variety of books! One of my intentions this year was to read whatever I want and jump out of my usual habits and I’m so glad I have. We all spend a lot of time on the internet talking about what we do. We read this thing, we play this game, we like this band. However, we don’t often discuss things that we don’t do. There are many genres that bloggers don’t read from, me included, and i want to talk a little bit about genres that i barely read from, or think i will never read from.
Young adult novels are very new to the world of fiction. Teen books have been around for quite some time now, with the first book aimed at teenagers released in the 1950’s. However, the term ‘young adult’ is a very new concept that has been introduced since more and more teenagers are reading and becoming invested in the stories told by other teenagers.
