At the end of October, me, Sarah and our friend, Louise, got tickets to a talk and signing with Markus Zusak at Waterstones Deansgate in Manchester. I was so excited because I adore The Book Thief and definitely see it as one of my favourite books. After a long 13 year wait (something he kept bringing up himself!) for his next book, it’s finally here! The event and signing was to celebrate his new novel, Bridge of Clay, which I’m currently reading. Continue reading
Yesterday, I had the chance to go to an event at Manchester Waterstones all about the BAME anthology, A Change is Gonna Come. If you follow our blog here or over on Twitter you will have most likely seen that we read this for our read-along two weeks ago (if not, how on earth have you missed it?) Five of the twelve authors were speaking at the event, four of which are new voices and their story in this anthology is their first published work! This made for such interesting conversations and also made it feel more relatable in many ways. The authors on the panel were Tanya Byrne, Yasmin Rahman, Phoebe Roy, Mary Bello and Aisha Bushby! Also, a big thanks to Charlie from Stripes Publishing who led the questions and was also really lovely to meet!
I, very wonderfully, had the opportunity to attend the first book signing of The Christmasaurus yesterday in Manchester. It was a fun filled Christmas wonderland packed in to a corner of Waterstones (and in October!) and a great event to kick start Tom’s promotion for his first novel.
It’s not every day that you get to meet one of your favourite authors (okay, favourite human beings) but I was lucky enough to finally meet Mrs Giovanna Fletcher over the weekend. Giovanna is the author of three novels (Billy and Me, You’re the One That I Want & Dream A Little Dream) and also two novellas (Christmas with Billy and Me & Dream A Little Christmas Dream.) Luckily, she’s currently working on a fourth novel that I cannot wait to get stuck in to in the New Year!
