Everyone in the U.K. YA community knows who Lucy Powrie is. She’s been masterminding U.K. YA for quite some time now, and it took over the community when she announced the release of her debut novel, The Paper & Hearts Society.

After the Fire by Will Hill (BEDM)

32327972682_0c6dc7959d_bI picked this up before NYALitFest as Will Hill was going to be there and I thought this book sounded really interesting and quite different. I’m morbidly fascinated by cults (I think most people who I’ve spoken to are) and this is all about a young girl who was in a cult dealing with life straight after a huge disaster. Continue reading

My So-Called Bollywood Life by Nisha Sharma (BEDM)

32327972682_0c6dc7959d_bHello all! It’s Blog Every Day in May (BEDM) and we are going to be joining the trend. However, slight difference – we may blog every other day in May as this crept up on us and we are both very busy eggs! Let’s see how we do though – I’m definitely making the effort to try and write as many posts this month as I can. I’ve been feeling pretty inspired to write recently which has been fab so I’m going to take advantage of that. Anyway! First BEDM post is a review of My So-Called Bollywood Life by Nisha Sharma, which is released in the UK tomorrow!  Continue reading

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan

I’m not normally a huge reader of fantasy but so far this year I’ve dug into Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi and now Girls of Paper and Fire by Nastasha Ngan – both of which I have loved! GOPAF was our Book Club pick for April and I truly adored it. I was unsure how I’d feel but I was so into it and I loved talking about it at Book Club (which I’ll upload a post about on Monday). I read most of this whilst sat in the wonderful weather over the Easter weekend – there’s no better way of spending a hot, sunny day than going for walks in beautiful places and sitting reading a good book outdoors! On with the review…

Leah On the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli (Blogmas)

After reading Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda, I was both content and gutted because I loved it but also it was over! Me and Sarah both decided to take Leah On The Offbeat to Amsterdam on our trip away and it was the best decision! It’s a fun read and it was so lovely to be back into a familiar world full of characters I adore. Continue reading

Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Katherine Webber (Blogmas)

32327972682_0c6dc7959d_bThis was one of the first books I picked up at YALC and I do not regret it. It’s also the first Katherine Webber book I have read and I now can’t wait to pick up Wing Jones. The story of this is so beautiful and I really do rate it highly. Continue reading

I’d been looking forward to starting Starfish for a while and I am so, so glad I’ve read it now! It is absolutely amazing and brought me out of a bit of a reading slump. I think I needed something with heavier themes as I’ve been reading a lot of light stories lately and I wanted something with a bit more to it. This is Akemi Dawn Bowman’s first novel and honestly, what a debut to have. I can’t wait to read her future books.  Continue reading
