First Day of My Life by Lisa Williamson – Blog Tour

For the second year running, my first read of the year is a book from Lisa Williamson and yet again, it’s a wonderful way to start it! I’m super happy to be on the blog tour for First Day of My Life as I genuinely loved the book and enjoyed so many aspects which I will discuss below. A huge thank you to David Fickling Books and Annabelle at ed pr for gifting me a copy of the book!

Crime Readathon Book Recs

Ourselves and the lovely Lois of LoisReadsBooks announced a readathon we set up which begins this month, from the 25th October until 8th November 2020. Sophie’s July 2020 Wrap Up

Wrap Up Header

Is this…the first time I have ever done a wrap up? I think it might be! Sarah always does them but I’ve never jumped on this trend. Not necessarily because I haven’t wanted to but just because I’ve never given it a go and I forget to do things like this on a monthly basis. Anyway, here I am with potentially my first ever wrap up unless I’ve forgot about one from years ago! July was a fab reading month for me so I’m looking forward to diving in here. Books by Black Authors

List HeaderWe wanted to write a post highlighting some books by Black authors that both/one of us have read, ones that we own and want to read, and ones we are currently reading. It’s so important to support Black creators not just now but always. Both Sarah and I want to do better and are taking meaningful action to do so. At the start of this list we have linked some articles and blog posts by Black people recommending books by Black authors as well as some lists of films to watch to educate yourself. We will also share in this list some resources for the Black Lives Matter movement, including links to donations and petitions, educational resources and info for protestors. We stand in complete solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and we vow to do better to help the Black community in any way we can.

Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak – Blogtober

Book Review HeaderIt took me months but I finally finished Markus Zusak’s latest novel, Bridge of Clay a while back now. I loved The Book Thief when I read this a few years back so when I heard he was bringing this out, plus doing an event in Manchester I was really excited. We wrote a post on the event here. It was a brilliant time and I’m happy to say I loved this new book. Continue reading “Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak – Blogtober”
