General Review Policy

We are happy to accept books for review – we respond to these requests on an individual basis. Please send us details by email at thelittlecontemporarycorner@hotmail.com or through our contact us page.

We accept ARCs, finished copies and e-books. We would prefer physical copies where possible.

We run an LGBTQ+ Book Club and we love to receive requests for this. We aim for our book club to be as accessible as possible so for the benefit of our members we try to choose books which are widely available and easy to get hold of. For this reason, ARCs would only be possible if we had enough for each member of Book Club. If you want to provide material for our LGBTQ+ Book Club, please email us at thelittlecontemporarycorner@hotmail.com so we can discuss.

Reviews

Our reviews will always be fair and written with the aim of expressing our honest thoughts, opinions and feelings to our audience.

We pride ourselves on reading diversely and always want to improve – because of this, we love to receive books with diverse representation, particularly own voices texts.

We are particularly interested in the following genres, themes and ages of books:

• Young Adult
• New Adult
• LGBTQ+
• Graphic novels
• Non-fiction
• Mental health
• Contemporary
• Dystopian
• Short story compilations

We always try our best to read and review books sent to us in a timely manner and before their release date if applicable, however we cannot always guarantee this depending on our personal and work demands at that time.

Ratings

We do rate and review books separately here at The Little Contemporary Corner as we can (of course) have different opinions. This ratings system works for the both of us though of course we may rate the same book with two different star ratings.

★★★★★ = I adored the book and it’s probably a new favourite and holds a new place in my heart

★★★★☆ = Brilliant read, I thoroughly enjoyed it but with room for improvement

★★★☆☆ = An above average book, enjoyable but not a first choice to recommend

★★☆☆☆ = Some moments I liked however on the whole not my cup of tea.

★☆☆☆☆ = I didn’t enjoy this book and it really wasn’t for me

We also use half star ratings on our blog. All our ratings are subjective and are our personal opinions. We always explain why we have picked a particular star rating as the reasons vary for each individual book.

We are a personal book blog and write posts honestly, expressing positive and negative opinions and views. Our opinions are our own and we are honest with all reviews, whether we have been gifted books by a third-party or not.

We do not share any personal information with third-parties. We do not store any information about your visit to this blog for use other than to analyse content performance through the use of cookies. You can turn these off by modifying your Internet browser settings. We are not responsible for any republishing of content found on this blog on other websites without our permission.

We may create and share Google Forms to collect opinions and thoughts for our LGBTQ+ Book Club posts however we never share information to third-parties. We will ask in the form if you are happy for us to link your comment to your first name and social media accounts that you give us. If at any point you would like your comment deleted from our posts, please get in touch.
