Ourselves and the lovely Lois of LoisReadsBooks announced a readathon we set up which begins this month, from the 25th October until 8th November 2020. It’s a Crime Readathon as we want to expand our reading of the crime genre and it’s various subgenres. We have created a little spreadsheet of some recommendations and suggestions where you could find some books for your readathon TBR!Continue reading “Crime Readathon Book Recs”
Today’s post is a little different but I am very excited about it! We here at The Little Contemporary Corner have partnered with Women X – created by Rianne Pictures with the aim of uplifting women and non-binary filmmakers. I work at Rianne Pictures, which is a volunteer and women led production company – I’ve been there for over three years now, I absolutely love it and I’m super glad my two worlds of films and books have collided! Read on to find out what the event is, when it is and how you can get tickets…Continue reading “Partner Event: Women X”
Happy Bi Visibility Day to my fellow bisexuals and anyone who is questioning whether they might be! I’m very open about my sexuality now and I’ve been wanting to write a post about it for a long time. I debated doing a post about bi representation in books, films and tv, however that’s something for another day. Today I want to talk about my own experience as a bisexual woman: the good, the bad, and the downright ridiculous.Continue reading “Bisexuality and Me – Bi Visibility Day 2020”
I’ve not bought many books at all this year (mainly because I’ve not had much money to spend and I’ve been trying to save tbh) but over the past six weeks or so I decided to treat myself to a few and figured I should do a little haul! Sarah also did a book haul the other day which you can catch up on here.Continue reading “A Little Book Haul”
Is this…the first time I have ever done a wrap up? I think it might be! Sarah always does them but I’ve never jumped on this trend. Not necessarily because I haven’t wanted to but just because I’ve never given it a go and I forget to do things like this on a monthly basis. Anyway, here I am with potentially my first ever wrap up unless I’ve forgot about one from years ago! July was a fab reading month for me so I’m looking forward to diving in here. I have felt very inspired to read recently but much less inspired to write and I think this is due to a little creative dip. I can’t really think of different types of posts to write that I am excited about. Of course, book reviews are one of the main types of posts that bloggers upload but I’m really not feeling inspired to write reviews right now, even though I do really want to write about the books I’ve read recently. I finally got round to reading Queenie and I truly loved it. I got through it pretty quickly as I found it to be such a page turner. I’ve been meaning to read it for so long and it truly did not disappoint. If you want to hear some of my thoughts on the book, check it out below. There will be some spoilers in this review!
