I’ve been in a mega reading slump over the last couple of months that I’m only just coming out of. It’s been very hard to kick and I find it really difficult to get back into reading, and also blogging, when this happens. I’m here to share a few ideas though on how to get out of one!

We wanted to write a post highlighting some books by Black authors that both/one of us have read, ones that we own and want to read, and ones we are currently reading. It’s so important to support Black creators not just now but always. Both Sarah and I want to do better and are taking meaningful action to do so. At the start of this list we have linked some articles and blog posts by Black people recommending books by Black authors as well as some lists of films to watch to educate yourself. We will also share in this list some resources for the Black Lives Matter movement, including links to donations and petitions, educational resources and info for protestors. We stand in complete solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and we vow to do better to help the Black community in any way we can.
I have had the basics of this post drafted for longer than I care to admit but it’s something I have wanted to do for so long! Sometimes when I’m reading a book, I get vibes of a certain Hogwarts House from it. It could be the atmosphere, the characters, the themes – honestly anything! I’ve see quite a lot of these posts/videos in the past and they always interest me as I love seeing what houses people put books in and for what reasons. With everything going on at the minute, I’ve found myself picking up on things I’ve been missing recently, one of which is a simple luxury of reading in different places! I thought I’d write a post about my favourite little spots to read, both very specific places and more general. It might be broad things like genre or particular authors but there are also little things that are ridiculously specific and niche! I wanted to start this as a series ages ago and have had the ideas drafted for months but I never got round to it or was feeling it. Now however, I’ve had a resurgence of passion for it. I often associate books or songs with Hogwarts houses – it’s a fairly common thing to do. There’s sometimes just a vibe in a book’s style or theme, a character with specific house traits or just the feeling you get when reading it that makes me sometimes instantly associate a book with a house.
