I hope everyone had lovely Christmases, and got all the books that they were hoping for! This year wasn’t a proper Christmas for us, from a lot of outside factors going on, but i’m making up for it now that Christmas is over by doing all the fun things possible. I got a couple of books as gifts for Christmas, and also got myself a couple of presents (because why not), so i wanted to share my most recent purchases with you!
I want to talk a little bit about my Christmas presents first. I was lucky enough to get some lovely books from my friends and my parents, all of which i’ve really wanted to read for quite some time. The books that i receieved on Christmas day as gifts were,
- Hamilton: The Revolution by Lin-Manuel Miranda & Jeremy McCarter
- Fleabag: The Scriptures by Phoebe Waller-Bridge
- Find Me by Andre Aciman
- I Am I Am I Am by Maggie O’Farrell
- Unfollow by Megan Phelps-Roper
My parents gifted me Hamilton: The Revolution by Lin-Manuel Miranda & Jeremy McCarter and Fleabag: The Scriptures by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, two books that have been high up on my to-buy list for a while now. I’m so excited to dip in to these as and when i feel like it. And the other books gifted on that list were from my friends, which are books that i’ve been wanted to also get my hands on for a while.
On Christmas day i decided to treat myself to a few new books that i’ve had on my wishlist for some time and hadn’t got around to buying. I picked up,
- The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
- My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
- Natalie Tan’s Book Of Luck and Fortune by Roselle Lim
- Get A Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert
A couple of days after Christmas me and my family took our usual trip to a small village nearby for some lunch and book shopping. I sometimes find some treasures, but most of the time i come away with stuff i don’t need or nothing. This trip, i happened to come away with a few bits that had caught my eye before and some which i bought on a whim.
These books i picked up from charity shops in the village,
- The Psychology Of Time Travel by Kate Mascarenhas
- Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
- The Secret Barrister by The Secret Barrister
- The Shadow Of The Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
I have had my eye on The Secret Barrister for some time now, and honestly never wanted to pay full price for it. It was always something i was interested in but i’m not sure if i’d enjoy it in a book format. For 80p i figured i’d try it!
I remembered seeing The Psychology of Time Travel in Waterstones quite some time ago, and haven’t really checked it out since. I remembered this badass women time travel story and jumped at buying it cheap. If anything, i’m sure i’ll feel pretty empowered!
Those are all my most recent purchases and books that i’m excited to get to pretty soon! I think i’ll be on a little bit of a buying ban until my trip in Feburary to London, where i know i’ll be getting plenty of new books.
What a great haul! So many books I either loved or have on my TBR.
