Before YALC (ages ago, I know), I wrote a post about being in a bit of a reading slump, mainly a YA reading slump but I wasn’t feeling anything much really. Since YALC, I’ve been super energised to read anything and everything I can see. I’ve been reading a lot more and different things too. It’s been nice to jump into different genres and I’m enjoying just picking up whatever I feel like!
I feel like it’s a very trivial thing generally – being in the mood to read and writing these posts about whether I’m feeling it or not. In a way, it is – it’s not like it’s some huge event in my life. However, reading is also a big part of my life and it makes me happy when I’m in the mood for my hobbies. This is probably me overthinking anyway; it’s not like I’m writing this post saying this is a life changing event! It’s literally just a chat to say ‘Hey I’m loving reading more again and that makes me happy!’
So hey, I’m loving reading more again and that makes me happy. Right after YALC, I finished I Will Not Be Erased by gal-dem, Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman, This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp and Hello Me, It’s You edited by Hannah Todd. For me, this is a very decent amount! I’ve had a bit more free time recently so I’ve actually had chance to read. Since then, I’ve read a few more books, most of which I’ll post a chatty review of this month.
I’ve also been through my bookshelves – I’ve sorted through all my books, what I’m keeping, what to give away to charity and what to sell. Going through my books has been a great thing to do – I’ve been a little harsher on what to get rid of than I have been before. I also found a load of books which I’ve forgotten I even own but really want to read! So they are definitely going to be read very soon.
Post-YALC I always feel inspired to read a lot so I knew this would happen and it’s one of the many reasons I love to go! I wrote an honest review of my YALC 2019 experience here if you want to read more about that. I want to go to more Literature festivals and conventions as they are great opportunities to meet wonderful people and get inspired for both reading and blogging.
I’m posting more on Twitter now too and will be updating my insta mini review highlights soon! So if you want to keep up to date, follow those or find me on Goodreads!
