The Northern YA Literary Festival is right around the corner! Okay it’s a couple of months away, but i’m pretty excited about it. The event is in it’s second year and is run by Preston University. It’s a free entry event which brings together a whole host of authors from different genres, with talks, signings and much more!
I went to the first year of this event last year, and i really loved it. You can read about that experience HERE if you’re interested. I spent time with great friends and loved the panels that day. For a free event, it was really incredible!
This year they’re back and bigger, with authors such as Katherine Webber, Samantha Shannon, Lisa Williamson, Sara Barnard and even a creative writing session with Melvin Burgess. If you’re in the area of Manchester, this is an opportunity not to be missed definitely. There are plenty more authors in attendance this year, and it’s a really relaxed and wonderful atmosphere there. I cannot wait to be back.
However, because the authors have started to be announced for this years event. I have started my TBR for the event. I didn’t have a TBR last year, i didn’t put a lot of focus on it. This year i’m pretty excited, and there’s some books that i cannot wait to read that are on my TBR and luckily the authors will be there at NYA Lit Fest. So i’ve made a little TBR of the books that i really want to get read before i go this year. Here’s my list:
- After The Fire by Will Hill
- State Of Sorrow by Melinda Sailsbury
- The Graces by Laure Eve
- Sam Wu is Not Afraid Of Ghosts by Katie & Kevin Webber
- Rosie Loves Jack by Mel Darbon
- Ink by Alice Broadway
Looking at this list now, i have to admit i’m a little overwhelmed with the amount i’m going to have to read, but again, these are books that i’ve had on my TBR for a long time anyway, and this is the perfect excuse to read them!
I’m particularly excited about reading After The Fire because i’m pretty sure i’m going to absolutely love it. I’ve also been wanting to get around to Rosie Loves Jack for a while now as i keep going to pick it up. Hopefully NYA Lit Fest will make me read at least a few of these books in the very near future.
If you want to go to NYA Lit Fest, it’s on the 16th of March 2019 and is free to attend. HERE is the registration and tickets for each panel (you have to have a ticket for each event during the day). Make sure you sign up, it’s bound to be a great day!
Good luck with your TBR!
By the time NYA comes around I’m hoping to have read at least one book by each author. I’ve luckily read most of them already so there are only a few I need to crack on with. I’d definitely recommend picking up something by Bali Rai if you get the chance, he’s excellent.
