Lauren James has had one of the biggest YA releases of 2017 with her latest novel The Loneliest Girl In The Universe. It was the biggest novel to come out of YALC this year with absolutely everyone talking about it. I decided to pick up my own copy and see what the fuss was about.
I first read something by Lauren James last year, when I was very excited to get around to reading The Next Together. I cannot say that I absolutely loved it, or connected with it in anyway. In fact, her writing style put me off any future Lauren James novels. I wrote a full review on it last year that you can find HERE if you want to know my full thoughts on it.
However, once I heard about the hype around The Loneliest Girl In The Universe at YALC I figured I should pick up a copy and give it a go to see if my opinions on her would change. My full review will be up very soon for the novel, but for now I will tell you I absolutely adored it and it changed my opinion of Lauren James’ writing. I feel like she’s found her writing flow and settled very nicely in to a style. After all, I think all of the stories she’s written have been wonderfully thought-out and detailed.
When I was invited to the Lauren James event in Manchester I completely jumped at the chance. It’s now less than two weeks away and you can get yourself a ticket for just £3! The event itself is hosted by Waterstones and includes a chaired talk, audience Q&A and Lauren will be signing copies of her latest release at the end.
I cannot wait to attend and hear about how her writing has changed and how she has developed as an author. This is set to be one of the most exciting Waterstones events of the year, make sure you don’t miss it.
