September 2017 Wrap-Up

Wrap Up Header

August was a great reading month for me. It was the month after YALC and that meant i was ridiculously excited about all my new purchases and ARC’s. I was determined to make September a great month too. Well, you can see what happened…

I ended up having a very busy month and next to no time to read. My hours at work more than doubled unexpectedly and I was thrown in to quite a busy social life. Meaning I really didn’t get much time to read at all. I’m really disappointed with how little I’ve read, especially as I was excited about so many books. Here’s what I actually managed to get to.

A Change Is Gonna Come by BAME authors
I managed to finish this short story collection purely because we hosted the read-along blog tour for it. And to be honest, it was difficult to finish! I really enjoyed the book but I’ve had no motivation to read. Probably because I’ve been doing none of it. We read a story a day for a total of 12 days, and it ended up being a very fun way to read such an important book. I DNF’d one story and there are a few I need to re-read in order to full understand them away from the time pressures, so that means I only gave it a three and a half stars out of five. However without a doubt I will be reading more stories from these lovely authors!

And…that’s it. I read a little more of The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily Danforth, read most of I Am Traitor by Sif Sigmarsdottir and most of Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart. I’m really hoping that next month is a little bit calmer so I can get some actual reading done and catch up to my end of year challenge of 52 books!
