My YALC book haul from last year looks extremely disappointing next to this years. I made sure when i was there that i set myself a limit on how much i wanted to spend, only got books i really wanted and let myself grab some ARCs i might not normally read to try out some new genres. I met all those criteria, but i still ended up with a lot of books…
First of all i’ll start with the books that i bought. I made sure at the beginning of the weekend to buy books i really wanted just in case they sold out, and others i waited until the final hour on Sunday when a lot of the prices went down (seriously, thank you YAHQ for your £1 deals on Sunday evening). I managed to get pretty much everything i intended to get and cannot wait to start reading these. Especially now that YALC is over and i can read whatever i want to! I managed to pick up:
Mind Your Head by Juno Dawson
- The Crash by Lisa Drakeford
- Life In A Fishbowl by Len Vlahos
- With Malice by Eileen Cook
- The Way Back Home by Allan Straton
- Daughter Of The Buring city by Amanda Foody
- And I Darken by Kirsten White
- Editing Emma by Chloe Seager
- Our Own Private Universe by Robin Talley
- A Tragic Kind Of Wonderful by Eric Lindstrom
- The Lovers Dictionary by David Levithan
- Room Empty by Sarah Mussi
- The Names They Gave Us by Emery Lord
- Orbiting Jupiter by Gary D. Schmidt
- Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner
- Optimists Die First by Susin Nielson
I’m so excited to read all of these books, i seriously want to ignore everything else and make my way through this list. I have finally completed my David Levithan collection with his final book and found three books from my TBR pile i’ve been after for a long time. I picked up a few books that i’d not heard of but really liked the sound of, because why not? I was at YALC.
Here are the ARCs i managed to pick up over the weekend:
The Fandom by Anna Day
- The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert
- The Exact Opposite of Okay by Lauren Steven
- Everless by Sara Holland
- Zenith by Sasha Alsberg & Lindsey Cummings
- There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins
- Moonrise by Sarah Crossan
- Blackbird by N. D Gomes
- Otherworld by Jason Segel & Kirsten Miller
- The Sacrifice Box by Martin Stewart
- I Am Traitor by Sif Sigmarsdottir
- This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada
- The Treatment by C. L. Taylor
- Potters Boy by Tony Mitton
- Water In May by Ismee Amiel Williams
- LumberJanes by Tamaki Allen
- Wizards and Robots by Will.I.am & Brian David Johnson
I am so incredibly pleased with these books i managed to pick up. I missed out on a few i would have liked to get my hands on but i feel like the likes of Moonrise and Zenith make up for them. I’m especially excited to start reading This Mortal Coil, Otherworld, Everless and There’s Someone Inside Your House.
These books along with a whole host of bookmarks, samplers and everything else made for a pretty successful YALC trip. I managed to get my hands on quite a few samplers which i might read a put all in one big review. I’m sure i wont be able to contain my excitement for most of them until next year.
Let me know in the comments what books you managed to pick up whilst at YALC this year! I’m interested to find out what others grabbed!
Despite still being exhausted almost a week later, I can’t wait for next year already!
