Last year we did a Christmas read-along of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, and we enjoyed it so much that we’ve set up a Christmas Read-Along for Christmas 2016! One of our favourite things over on this blog is to read books with our friends, getting different opinions and views as you’re reading something together. It also allows you to have so many people to talk about what you’re reading with. It’s definitely worth the time and effort!
This year, me and Sophie have recruited our friends in to reading along a short story collection with us. This short story collection was released last Christmas, and took the YA shelves by storm as so many of our favourite contemporary authors joined together to create this wonderful book. This book is:
My True Love Gave To Me, Edited by Stephanie Perkins
I cannot believe it’s taken us thing long to dive in to this wonderful collection of stories. With authors such as Holly Black, Rainbow Rowell and Lani Taylor all contributing to this collection, its bound to be a good one. Each story is a festive themed short story, all completely different from the last. I can guarantee there will be something for everyone in this book.
We will be starting the read-along on the 14th of December and it will run until Christmas Day. The clever ones out there will notice that that is 12 days of reading. That is because this book involves 12 short stories. To make this read-along more fun (and to be honest, a lot easier to keep up with) we have planned to read one short story a day for the 12 days leading up to Christmas. Exciting right?
We both cannot wait to get in to this book, share the stories we will read and discuss the new characters our favourite authors are blessing us with. A lot of people have already read this, so don’t be afraid to re-read it along with us. We will be announcing each day on our Twitter (@TLCCBlog) which short story we will be reading that day, so you can jump in whenever you like!
All the information for this read-along will be on the ‘Events’ page on our blog too. So get involved, get your friends and family and your dog involved, it’s going to be a wonderfully contemporary Christmas!
