I’m not sure if everyone does this, but I massively associate books with the season that I read them. Like I could have read a book about a summer holiday in December and it will always be a winter book to me. So these books aren’t necessarily the greatest reads for a beach in the summer time, but they’re books that I associate with summer the most.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
I’m in two minds about this book being a summer book. Originally for me it was a winter book as I remember reading it on New Years Eve a few years back, however since then, all my rereads of Fault have been in the summer. I guess it doesn’t matter what time of year it is, I’ll still cry every time.
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
This is definitely a perfect book for the summer. It’s cutesy and contemporary and everything you’d want from a summer read. I think I did read this book during the summer of 2015 and I absolutely loved it. Plus it seems like everyone has a little more time in the summer, a perfect excuse to buy the sequel too!
My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
For the same reasons as the last, My Life Next Door is a perfect summer read. It’s cute and contemporary and full of all the fluffy things you’d want. If my memory serves me right too, I believe the book is set during the summer, absolutely perfect!
One Day by David Nicholls
I feel like One Day quite literally is the perfect beach read. It encompasses everything from love to loss to bitchy ex’s, and I don’t think you could ask any more from a summer novel. Each chapter takes place a year ahead of the last, keeping the pace fast and the story interesting, I absolutely love this novel and have been pressuring everyone I love to read it for the last five years.
Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
It’s becoming a theme in which I really love fluffy contemporary novels in the summer time isn’t it? I didn’t read Eleanor and Park in the summer time, I read it in the height of winter in fact, but I really wish I had saved it to read in the park on hot day. It really is a perfect summer read and one that I’d recommend to the small amount of people who are yet to read it!
