World Book Night is fast approaching and that means we can all get cosy with plenty of blankets and hot chocolate (or coffee if you need to stay awake) for one whole night of reading! I simply cannot wait!
If you didn’t know, World Book Night is an annual celebration of reading books that is taking place this year on the 23rd of April. World Book Night is run by The Reading Agency, a charity which inspires people to become confident and enthusiastic readers.
The Reading Agency gives people the chance to become volunteers to give out hundreds and thousands of books in their communities, sharing their love of reading and these amazing stories that they offer.
This year the books chosen for World Book Night are:
Am I Normal Yet? By Holly Bourne
Too Good To Be True by Ann Cleeves (Quick read)
The Rotters Club by Jonathan Coe
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Band of Brothers by Stephen E. Ambrose
Whispering Shadows by Jan-Philipp Sendker
Reasons To Stay Alive by Matt Haig
A Baby At The Beach Café by Lucy Diamond (Quick read)
Love Poems by Carol Ann Duffy
Treachery by S. J. Parris
Someone Else’s Skin by Sarah Hilary
Last Bus To Coffeeville J. Paul Henderson
Now You See Me by Sharon Bolton
I Can’t Begin to Tell You by Elizabeth Buchan
Luckily I have been chosen to be a volunteer and spread the reading love around my community on the 23rd of April. The book I will be handing out is:
I’m so excited to be apart of such a big and exciting night that celebrates everything reading. I will be reading Shadow and Bone, starting on the evening of the 23rd of April and I will encourage everyone to join me. If you’ve never picked it up before make sure you have a copy, and if you’ve read it and enjoyed it, why not read it to join in?
If Shadow and Bone isn’t a novel that you think you’d enjoy, try another from the World Book Night approved list and join in the reading!
Also keep your eyes peeled for events that are happening around you!
Happy reading!
