Movie Adaptations in 2016

2016 is set to bring us a whole heap of exciting movies that have been based on books. I’m not usually the kind of person who gets excited about movie releases, however there are some incredible books this year that I cannot wait to be brought to life on screen! Here’s a list of some of the most exciting ones that are due to be released in 2016 so you can get a head start and read the novels!

Room by Emma Donoghue
Release Date: 15th January 2016
We’re just days in to 2016 and Room is already my most anticipated movie of this year. I read Room at the end of 2015 and I’m so annoyed with myself that I waited this long! It’s such a beautiful story about five year old Jack and his mother who were kept hostage in a room in her captures garden. It follows their lives and how they change once they finally get out. This novel is honestly so full of emotion I’m not sure how I’m going to cope in the cinema!

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancy
Release Date: 22nd January 2016
It seems like everyone was talking about The 5th Wave in 2014/15, however I still haven’t read the novel! Time is seriously running out to read it before its cinema release (I definitely will do it!) The 5th Wave kind of has a Divergent/The Hunger Games feel to it to me and that’s what’s getting me most excited (also Chloe Moretz.)

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Release Date: 7th October 2016
The Girl on the Train was one of the biggest books of 2015 having been branded the new ‘Gone Girl’. There is set to be a movie adaptation of this fantastic suspense novel in 2016 which I honestly cannot wait for! I’m currently around 100 pages in to this novel and I cannot wait to see how it ends in preparation for the movie!

Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Release Date: No final date 2016
Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children was our Halloween read-along of 2015. Me and Sophie enjoyed the novel so much we cannot wait for the Tim Burton movie adaptation later this year. I’m so excited to find out how they’ve captured this incredible book, but I’m sure with Tim Burton working on it, it will be phenomenal!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling
Release Date: 18th November 2016
I guess if you haven’t already heard about this movie adaptation you’ve been living under a rock. The next instalment in the Harry Potter franchise is probably one of the most talked about movies of the last six months and I can’t see that changing any time soon. The film is a prequel staring (the amazingly talented and even more amazingly handsome) Eddie Redmayne and I honestly cannot wait to see this!
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Release Date: 21st October 2016
If you need a good cry for whatever reason this year, I’d look out for the book and movie of A Monster Calls! It seems like Patrick Ness is finally getting the recognition he deserves in 2016 and it’s just one step forward making this incredible book in to a movie!

I’m pretty sure we’re all set for entertainment for the New Year with the amount of books we’re going to have to read in preparation for the movies! I’m so very excited about all of these movies and I cannot wait to blog about them all.
