Halloween Read-Along Day 2

Readalong Header

I was so excited to start this read-along and I am not disappointed! I’m cosy in my blankets, eager to read more of Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children but it’s time to update my progress first!

I started this book yesterday on the official start date and I’m trying to pace myself so I don’t rush through it and finish within a ridiculously fast amount of time! Although, it’s hard when reading a book you really don’t want to put down.

I’m on page 120 and I am utterly in love with Ransom Riggs’ writing style. The details are stunning and I really can picture everything beautifully in my head. To echo what Sarah said about the book having American Horror Story vibes, I COMPLETELY agree. It has such eerie elements that mirror how I feel when I watch that show and I love that feeling. The wonderfully sinister pictures scattered throughout the book help this and I adore this aspect (even if some of the scarier photos do make me worriedly check the hidden corners of my room!)

I love the touches of mystery to the story and how just when I feel like I’ve figured something out about Grandpa Portman’s past, a new twist is added and it gets even more complex and strange!

Tomorrow, it is Sarah’s turn to post her thoughts again. Keep checking back to see how far we have read and what we are feeling!
