This weekend has been the first time in a while that I’ve had a little book splurge. When I say ‘little’ I mean that I got all of these books for under £10! Absolute bargain. So I honestly couldn’t resist buying these when I stumbled upon them. I have plenty of other books that I’m prioritising over these ones sadly, as I’m super excited about a few of them. I have my end of the year TBR and the Read-Along coming up for Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children, meaning I don’t have time to start them soon! However the deals were just too good to pass up.
The five books that I bought this weekend were:
The Land of Decoration by Grace McCleen
I feel like I’ve seen this cover floating around BookTube a little while ago but I could be wrong. I’ve seen it around in shops a few times and have always been drawn to the cover of it, the story sounds fascinating as it is about a girl who can make things in her dreams become reality. It is a story told in prose and after reading One by Sarah Crossan I’m absolutely in love with the style of writing! Might not been something I get to right away but I’m more than happy that I now have it on my shelf!
Bought from DAISY LANE BOOKS
The Penguin Complete Novels of George Orwell
For quite some time I have been looking for a cheap copy of Animal Farm, I’ve heard incredible things and I’m intrigued to read it. I wasn’t looking to spend a great amount of money on it as I’ve not read any George Orwell before but when I found his works including Animal Farm, Coming Up for Air and Nineteen Eighty-Four for only £1 I couldn’t exactly leave it in the shop could i?
Bought from DAISY LANE BOOKS
We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler
This is another novel that I keep pointing out every time that I go in to my friends room. It seemed like the title was everywhere last year and I never thought to pick up a copy. Re-reading the cover made me really want to get stuck in! I found my copy dirt cheap for a hard back too!
Bought from OXFAM BOOKS
The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E Smith
For a long time this title was on my ‘to buy’ book list but I recently took it off. I already own This Is What Happy Looks Like by the same author and have not read it yet. If I didn’t like her writing, there was no point in having two of her books, right? But I found this copy super cheap and couldn’t really turn it down (I feel like that’s becoming a theme in this post.)
Bought from THE WORKS
Skin Deep by Laura Jarratt
This is another book that I’m sure I’ve seen floating around on the internet a lot. I’ve definitely seen the cover before and this is what lead me to pick it up this time. I won’t lie, the only reason that I actually bought it was because it was £1. The cover and story reminds me of a Gayle Forman novel so I think I’ll enjoy it!
Bought from POUNDLAND
So those were the five books that I’ve bought in the last few days, now it’s time to spend no money at all for a while on books because I’m being buried in my TBR!
