I’ve been reading a lot of books lately where I’ve fallen slightly in love with the male characters. Let’s face it, most of the time fictional boyfriends are much better than actual real life boyfriends because they don’t require as much effort. It’s like we can love them up close without all the drama! Perfect! Now as a human being who likes both the male and female variety I will be following up this post at some point with a ‘top 6 fictional girlfriends,’ because we can’t really leave out how much I long for Katniss Everdeen can we?
So (in no particular order because choosing 6 was a task enough) here are my top 6 male fictional crushes at the moment!
John Ambrose McClaren from the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before duology by Jenny Han.
At first I didn’t think much of John, he was just a side character that I wasn’t overly interested in. But with some more thought and the further I got in to P.S I Still Love You my feelings for him were pretty solid. He’s such a straight laced and dependable character it’s quite hard not to love him. Having Lara Jean blow him off after what he did for her at the dance was quite heart breaking to say the least for me. I’d choose John over Peter any day!
Quentin Jacobsen from Paper Towns by John Green.
Most of my top fictional boyfriends are the main characters in their novels, similarly I cannot help but be incredibly in love with Q. He was willing to road trip to find a girl he liked for god sake! I struggle to find a fault in his personality and I’d be lying if I hadn’t thought about how good we’d be together. Q’s interaction with Margo is practically priceless and I think it makes any John Green fan a little jealous. To be honest my feelings only heightened for Q when I found out Nat Wolf would be playing him in the movie adaptation of Paper Towns (one of my top celebrity crushes since The Fault in Our Stars.)
Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.
If you don’t want to marry Ron just to be a Weasley and get a knitted jumper than frankly there is something seriously wrong with your taste in men. Ron has been a character I’ve always related to in the sense he sits back and watches things unfold in front of him and doesn’t like to get overly involved in situations. Our similar personalities are definitely something that attracts me to him as a character and makes me absolutely adore him. He’s quite a shy person when it comes to what he’s feeling, more awkward than anything but he’s so good hearted and funny it’s so hard not to love him. Plus puberty hit Rupert Grint hard.
Noah Shaw from the Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin.
Not only are these books some of my favourites of all time, I think Noah might be one of my favourite characters of all time. He is such a strong character but shows so much weakness it makes you want to just cuddle him up in a blanket and keep him in a corner where he’s safe. He’s described to look lazy but put together and that mixed with his charisma made me absolutely swoon through all three novels. How much of a change you see in him after dating Mara for just a few weeks made him seem like a much more approachable and nice person. There’s not quite enough words to describe how much I very much love Noah Shaw.
Peeta Mellark from the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins.
I literally couldn’t do a top fictional boyfriends without including Peeta. Not one part of me was ever team Gale during the series. All Peeta wants is the best for Katniss and he’s willing to do everything to make that happen. He’s such a selfless person who is willing to give up everything for the one person he loves. He’s a risk taker without being absolutely stupid about a situation and using his head to work his way through. I definitely admire him as not only one of my crushes but as one of my favourite characters ever. Well I can honestly say my love for him is ‘real.’
Tobias Eaton (Four) from the Divergent series by Veronica Roth.
He’s so *swoons* strong. I’ve never been afraid to say that I’m nowhere near the biggest fan of the Divergent series. The one thing that kept me reading was the sheer presence of Four. Right from the first novel he had me captivated. He has quite a lot of power in his personality as the instructor of the transfer initiates and seeing his soft side as he fell for Tris alongside that, I couldn’t help but love him. His connection with Tris will basically make anyone jealous.
So there you have my top 6 fictional male crushes, I wanted to narrow it down to five but there was no way I could cut one of these lovely lads from my list! I will follow up at some point with my top 5/6 fictional girlfriends!
