The time is upon us… BookTubeAThon 2015 is finally here!
If you didn’t know, BookTubeAThon is a week-long (August 3rd to August 9th) reading marathon for readers to basically read as much as they possibly can in that week (there’s a lot of ‘reads’ in that sentence.) There are different challenges every year to do with what you will read, but the choices of books are ultimately down to you! There is far more information about BookTubeAThon HERE that you can check out!
The challenges for BookTubeAThon 2015 are:
- Read a book with blue on the cover.
- Read a book written by an author with the same first letter in their last name as yours.
- Read someone else’s favourite book.
- Read the last book you acquired.
- Finish a book without letting go of it.
- Read a book you really want to read.
- Read 7 books in the week.
This year I am only taking part in challenges 1-6, because I’m a slow reader so reading 7 books in 7 days is completely impossible for me! But the BookTubeAThon is really there to help you along with reading as much as humanly possible within that week! There is no strict setting to what you actually have to read or if you have to complete all the challenges. It’s there to be enjoyed and to talk to others about the books you’ve read, enjoyed or disliked! So pick out some books and read read read!
The books that I have picked out for this years BookTubeAThon are:

When they meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the two loners start spending time together, they discover that they share a special kind of friendship–the kind of friendship that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. Summery : Every day is the same for Rhiannon. She has convinced herself that she deserves her distant, moody boyfriend, Justin. She knows the rules: Don’t be needy. Avoid upsetting him. Never get your hopes up.
Then, out of the blue, they share a perfect day together – perfect, that is, until Justin doesn’t remember anything about it. Confused, and yearning for another day as great as that one, Rhiannon starts to question everything. And that’s when a stranger tells her that the Justin she spent that time with … wasn’t Justin at all.
Title: The Kindest Use A Knife
Author: Vanessa Jones
Genre: Crime, Mystery, Thriller
Publication Date: 22nd July 2011
Summery : Gifted, magnetic, a virtuoso with a short temper, Lee defies his background to win a scholarship to the prestigious Cabresi academy of music. James – richer, less gifted and less charismatic – leeches onto the teenage prodigy to feed off his fame and genius, and to bask in Lee’s reflected glory. Slowly, stealthily, James fuels Lee’s increasing need for women and illicit substances, the better to pull the strings, keep him close.
Watching all of this is Peter, whose conversations with Lee call into question Lee’s tangled relationship with James. Peter appears uniquely placed to present a clear picture of this obsessive, increasingly destructive friendship. Gradually, he reveals the truth behind their power struggle, and the events that led to Lee’s tragic, drug-fuelled death…
Gripping and lean, considered and powerful, Vanessa Jones’s darkly brilliant second novel confirms the arrival of a bright British talent.
