I picked this book up on a whim without really thinking about it, shameless cover by. The reason it turned in to a ‘shameless’ cover buy was because it is simply AMAZING! A gem of a new adult novel, the apple in my keen readers eye…you get the idea. After reading so many contemporary books it’s difficult to find a new and exciting one that doesn’t make it seem like you’ve read the same story a million times over before. Radhika puts a new twist on the twenty something woman and their struggles with peer pressure in a way I’ve not seen done before.
Ellie is instantly easy to connect with (admittedly this might because I’m actually the same age as Ellie and in similar situations) and moreover she’s absolutely hilarious. She’s sarcastic, sassy, clumsy and loveable which is what everyone wants from their protagonists of unconventional love and friendship stories, right? Right!
This book is absolutely perfect for a light hearted, funny read and is not getting half of the recognition it deserves. I definitely would recommend it if you are coming in to the (no so) scary world of new adult literature. If you like contemporary literature (WARNING: and are above the age of 16) i would definitely give this a read.
